Disc Spring Materials


The most common material for disc springs is 51CrV4, they have a modulus of elasticity of 206.000 N/mm2 at 20ºC and a Poisson coefficient m = 0,3. Carbonated steels (CK67) are only used for group 1 disc springs (t<1,25).

Special materials for special applications, a wide range of materials is available, each giving special properties to the springs. This differences must be taken into account when carrying out calculations. Selecting the appropriate material we can get springs which will resist temperatures down to -260ºC and up to 700ºC. In addition to this, some materials are interesting due to their special resistance to corrosion, or their non-magnetic propeties.

Additional protection against corrosion:

It is posible to add finishings to the springs such as other material coverings, to give them an extra protection againtst corrosion.
