How a reversible LCD thermometer works
The label contains microencapsulated thermochromic liquid crystals applied over a dark background. As each digit reaches its nominal temperature, the liquid crystal molecules rotate slightly and reflect the green portion of the visible spectrum; that is why the digit that appears in green indicates the current temperature.
The reading is interpreted through a sequence of three colors:
- Blue
- The digit is slightly below the actual temperature.
- Green
- This is the indicated temperature. Always read this position.
- Brown / red
- The digit is slightly above the actual temperature.
If no digit appears in green, the temperature lies at an intermediate point between the adjacent blue and brown digits. Since the points are scaled every 2 °C, the practical reading can be refined to approximately ±1 °C. The color change is completely reversible and reusable: as the temperature varies, the scale updates continuously without degrading.

Because it is flexible, the label can be applied to curved as well as flat surfaces. It is not suitable for submerged use in water, and direct exposure to sunlight or UV rays should be avoided, as they progressively degrade the liquid crystal. For applications involving contact with water, other models in the same range are available.

Frequently asked questions about calendar thermometers
01 How do you read an adhesive LCD calendar thermometer?
The current temperature is the one shown by the digit lit in green. Digits in blue are slightly below the actual temperature and brown or red digits are slightly above it. If no number appears in green, the temperature lies between the last blue digit and the first brown one. Since the scale advances in 2 °C steps, the practical reading can be refined to approximately ±1 °C.
02 What temperature range does it cover and how accurate is it?
It covers 12 to 32 °C across 11 points, one every 2 °C (12, 14, 16… up to 32 °C). Accuracy is ±1 °C relative to the nominal temperature of each point. This range is designed for ambient temperature, which is the usual application in calendars and advertising media.
03 Does it need batteries or maintenance?
No. The thermometer works by thermochromic liquid crystal and has no batteries or electronic components. The color change is reversible and can be reused indefinitely. The only recommended care is to avoid direct sunlight and UV rays, which degrade the liquid crystal, and not to submerge it in water.
04 What quantities is it supplied in and how does pricing work?
It is supplied in packs of 100, 500, 1,000, 2,000 and 5,000 units, with tiered pricing: the larger the quantity, the lower the unit cost. The price of each pack is available in the drop-down on the product page. For large merchandising runs, the 2,000 and 5,000 packs offer the best cost per unit.
05 Can it be applied to any surface of the calendar?
Yes. The label is self-adhesive and flexible, so it adheres to both flat and curved surfaces. It measures 8 × 77 mm, a horizontal format that fits the layout of desk and wall calendars. It is not suitable for submerged use in water; for that function there are other models within the Reversible LCD thermometers range.
06 Can the scale or format be customized for a specific campaign?
